biometric immigration document (identity card)

  1. Valid until – The date shown here is the date when the card expires. After this date has passed the holder may no longer be eligible to stay in the UK and must renew their card to show they still have permission to remain in the UK. For those cardholders with limited leave, they can do this at the same time they apply to extend their stay in the UK.
  2. Type of permit – The information here describes the immigration category under which the cardholder has been granted permission to stay in the UK. For example, STUDENT.
  3. Remarks – This information advises what entitlements the cardholder has been given for the length of time they are entitled to stay. This information may continue on the back of the card (see point 5 below), eg entitlement to work.
  4. ZU1234567– This is the card’s unique number. Each card has a different number.
  5. Remarks – This information is a continuation of what immigration entitlements the cardholder has been granted (see point 3 above).
