Reporting illegal driving instruction
It is illegal for a person to provide driving instruction for a fee if they are not suitably qualified and registered with the Driving Standards Agency (DSA).
The DSA Fraud and Integrity Team (FIT) thoroughly investigate every case of suspected illegal instruction, and work closely with the police and prosecuting authorities to take them to court.
Approved Driving Instructors or Potential Driving Instructors who have any suspicions regarding illegal instruction can contact DSA FIT by:
- sending an email to integrity.team@dsa.gsi.gov.uk
- phoning DSA FIT (office hours) on Tel 029 2058 1155
- phoning DSA FIT (out of hours) on Tel 029 2058 1290
All information you provide to DSA FIT will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Online advice about illegal instruction has also been made available to people learning to drive. Read about reporting illegal driving instructors on the Directgov website - Opens in a new window.
