Multi-language road safety information for HGV drivers

The Highways Agency has produced downloadable factsheets for foreign drivers of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs). Transport managers can print these off and hand them out to new drivers before they start work.

The factsheets cover the basic rules for driving on England's major road network, including:

  • driving rules
  • safe driving practices
  • speed limits
  • lane discipline
  • roadside message signs
  • emergency stopping areas

They are available in six languages.

The Highway Code has information about signs and markings used on the road network, including traffic signals, warning signs and road markings. You can find out how to download information about road signs and markings on the Directgov website - Opens in a new window.
