Business Link is a great place to start for anyone thinking of working for themselves but not sure where to begin or get information. We offer ongoing advice and support, five days a week, for as long as it's needed, to guide you in the right direction and to help make your ideas a reality. We offer workshops that include Confidence Building, Assertiveness, and CV & Interview skills.

1. Basingstoke Multicultural Group

Confident Communication
A fun and interactive workshop on how to increase your self esteem and feel more confident in all your communications. Find out how to put your ideas forward and get yourself heard in a way that works for you.
Assertive / Presentation Skills
This interesting workshop will explore the simple changes you can make to help you improve the way that you present yourself to others whether in everyday life or at a meeting or interview. Exploring body language, confidence boosters and how to adapt what you say, so that other people can understand your message easily.
Real to Ideal
This session will guide you through the first steps to making your dreams happen. We'll take you through a simple and fun process which will help you set goals, formulate your ideas and explore your own motivations.
2. HMRC Self-Employment workshop for women
Business Link, 5th Floor, Hollywood House, Church Street East, Woking, GU21 6HJ.
To be held on the following dates:
- Thursday 12th November 10.00 to 12.00
- Monday 11th January 14.00 to 16.00
- Monday 15th February 10.00 to 12.00
- Tuesday 16th March 10.00 to 12.00
Our free HMRC workshop can help you understand your tax responsibilities and give you the confidence to get it right!
This short, two hour, workshop will give you a good overview of your obligations. It will cover:
- How to register for Self Employment (S/E)
- Types of National Insurance paid by the S/E
- Important dates for the S/E
- General principles of expenses
- General principles of Capital Allowances
This is an opportunity to get your questions answered and to meet, and share, with other women who are just starting out in self-employment.

3. Festival of Enterprise: Celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week
Tuesday 17th November from 09.00 to 18.00 at the Basingstoke Library, 19/20 Westminster House, Festival Place, Basingstoke, RG21 7LS.
Be inspired by local entrepreneurs who are running successful businesses. Come and find out how they achieved their success and how you too can make your ideas into a reality. This is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people interested in working for themselves or in the early stages of business. No need to book.
4. Personal Development workshops for women: Practical Floristry
Tuesday 24th November from 10.00 to 14.00 at the Maybury Centre, Board School Road, Woking, GU21 5HD. Lunch Provided & childcare costs arranged.
A fantastic opportunity to develop some skills in an encouraging environment and explore your potential. Learn some floristry skills and hear how Julie has set up her own floristry business. You will make a floral arrangement in dried flowers which you can then take home.
5. Communicate with Confidence: Personal Development workshops for women
Wednesday 25th November from 10.00 to 13.00 at the Maybury Centre, Board School Road, Woking, GU21 5HD. Lunch provided & childcare costs arranged.
Get more confident with communication and learn some assertiveness techniques for dealing with everyday life – do you ever say yes when you want to say no? Discover the way to a more confident you.
6. Creative Ideas for Business: Personal Development workshops for women
Thursday 26th November from 10.00 to 13.00 at the Maybury Centre, Board School Road, Woking, GU21 5HD. Lunch provided & childcare costs arranged.
This workshop covers:
- Creating a business idea
- How to turn a hobby into a business
- The skills you need
- Where to find help and support to explore your ideas
7. Networking skills workshop for women
Thursday 3rd December from 09.30 to 11.30 at Business Link, 5th Floor, Hollywood House, Church Street East, Woking, GU21 6HJ.
Do you find the thought of networking daunting, or perhaps simply tiresome? Maybe you're just not that type of person?
Networking doesn't have to be about stuffy business meetings and hard sell. Making new contacts is essential to the success of any business so come and learn some simple techniques which will build your confidence and help you get the most out of networking. You might even discover you enjoy it!
