2. Medway Council Partners for Growth – Start Up Grant

3. Face your Fears
Friday 13th November 2009 from 09.30 to 15.30 at Swale CVS, Central House, Central Avenue, Sittingbourne, ME10 4NU. Cost: Free.
The North Kent Enterprise Gateway is delighted to bring you a unique opportunity to participate in our Face Your Fears Workshop. Susan Banks and John Clifford from the Friendly Spider Programme at London Zoo have put together a special workshop for us.
Thinking about self employment, or other big decisions to do with your business or personal life, can make even the most robust person fearful. Participants at the workshop will gain an understanding of why and how fear manifests itself when we face change or are under stress. You will learn how fear works and why we react as we do and the links between human and animal behaviour.
Susan and John will provide a unique optional opportunity to meet Emmeline (a Chile Rose tarantula) and Wellington (a Royal Python). So come along and find out how to understand the negative effects of fear and how to turn it to your advantage.

5. Women's Enterprise Day/ECW Open Day
Wednesday 18th November from 10.00 to 19.00 at Enterprise centre for women, 85 High Street, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4EE.
Celebrate Women's Enterprise Day and also the opening of the enterprise centre for women. This event has been designed to promote the women's enterprise centre and the facilities that it can offer to encourage women considering self-employment or starting a business.
The event will include; taster workshops, 1 to 1 business advice with a women's business advisor, the showcasing of women already in business and much, much more.

6. Tackling Tax
Friday 20th November 2009 from 10.00 to 13.00 at Blue Town Heritage Centre, 69 High Street, Blue Town, Isle of Sheppey, ME12 1RW. Cost: Free.
Have you ever considered becoming self-employed but are worried about things you don't know about, like Tax, National Insurance, VAT, or how an extra part-time income will affect your taxes? If so, then this workshop that we are running in partnership with HMRC is for you.
The session aims to help demystify self-assessment process and online filing of your accounts. It also gives you the opportunity to ask any questions that you may have.
It will cover record keeping, expenses - what you can claim and what you can't, self-assessment returns, online filing and the payment cycle.

7. Childcare Training Information Day
Monday 23rd November from 10.00 to 21.30 at Enterprise Centre for Women, 85 High Street, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4EE.
An information day, designed to reach a wide range of female clients from the ages of 16 who are seeking a general introduction to working with children. Candidates must be unemployed or under the threat of unemployment due to redundancy. Childminders, Nursery owners or any ladies within the childcare industry are welcome to attend.
