As a principal decision maker your leadership and management skills have a direct impact on the successful performance of your business. However, having the time or being able to access the training and development you need is not always easy.

Business Link in the West Midlands understands the challenges and demands of day-to-day business and recognises the importance of skills development at a senior level, and have introduced a dedicated programme of support for West Midlands directors.

The programme is designed to be flexible, ensuring you have access to the right training that meets both your personal development needs and the needs of your business.

To ensure you have the expert support you require, we have teamed up with experienced skills development advisers to provide one-to-one coaching throughout the programme. Your development adviser will provide impartial advice and guidance to help identify, plan and evaluate the development that you need to achieve your business goals.

Who is Director Development for?
This is a dedicated programme aimed at principal decision makers of West Midlands businesses who:

  • Employ 5-249 staff and are not part of a larger parent company or group. This can include part-time employees and volunteers
  • Can be from any sector

Please note that the Director Development programme is limited to £1,000 per organisation.

What training does Director Development cover?
You choose! We will help you identify the right training that meets your personal and business requirements. The programme is flexible and recognises both formal and informal training including:

1-2-1 coaching and mentoring
Professional qualifications such as MBA or IoD
Entrepreneurship
Innovation and creativity
Leadership development
Personal impact and communication
Functional management skills

What is the deal for you?
To help make the process easier for you, Business Link has developed the following programme of support.

Free Training Needs Assessment -
One of our expert development mentors will come and visit you at your premises to identify your individual training and development needs through a free of charge confidential training needs assessment.

Free Personal Development Plan (PDP) -
Following your training needs assessment, your development mentor will work with you to identify and agree a Personal Development Plan that is unique to your individual and business requirements. This training plan will look at both long term and short term objectives and map a realistic and flexible programme that suits your needs, and the best of all it is free of charge.

Help finding the right training provider for you -
You may not always know where to go to find the right training that meets your needs. So, we have identified a range of quality training providers who have a varied and extensive portfolio, for you to choose from. Alternatively, you can choose to use your own preferred provider.

Up to £1,000* towards the cost of training -
We will support your chosen training/development programme with up to £1,000. You can opt to use this contribution towards individual training or pool your £1,000 support together with other directors with similar development needs. This will enable you to take advantage of, facilitated group learning, keynote speakers, group designed programmes etc...

Free Evaluation -
Your development mentor will provide the guidance and support to ensure that the training undertaken meets the needs identified in your personal development plan.

*First £500 grant is not required to be matched by the client and is available to the individual who is eligible to take part in the program.

Additional £500 grant is available but must be cash matched. It can be utilised by the key director or additional managers identified by the Key Director.
