Agricultural wages

The Agricultural Wages Board is responsible for setting the minimum rates of pay and other terms and conditions for workers employed in agriculture. Each year an Agricultural Wages Order sets out the agricultural minimum wage rate and other terms and conditions that apply to agricultural workers in England and Wales from 1 October of that year to the end of 30 September in the following year.

If you employ agricultural workers, this guide will help you understand how to apply minimum rates of pay, and benefit and leave entitlements for the different grades and categories of agricultural worker.

It will also help your workers to check their rights and entitlements.

This information is for guidance only, and you are advised to seek independent professional advice on specific worker or employer enquiries, or to contact the Pay and Work Rights Helpline on Tel 0800 917 2368.
